ASUP declares two weeks warning strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) will commence a 2-week warning strike from Monday May 16.    The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council on Wednesday May 11.    ASUP which suspended its industrial action declared on the 6th of April 2021 on the 10th of June, 2021 following the signing of a Memorandum of Action (MoA) with the government, said the strike became necessary over refusal of the federal government to meet their demand.

“Baby calm down” Unilag replies Rema after he complained about ASUU strike delaying him from resuming school

The University of Lagos (Unilag) has responded to Rema after he complained that the ASUU strike was keeping him from resuming since he got admission to study at the school.   The singer had tweeted earlier: “ASUU, since dem give me admission I neva start school o, e don do nau!”   Bowen University then saw it as a chance to advertise their institution so they tweeted at Rema, writing: “ASUU can’t delay you if you’re enrolled in Bowen University.”

Police dismiss nine officers over failed strike

Nine police officers have been dismissed over their roles in the botched strike by rank and file of the institution.    The police officers’ dismissal was approved by Inspector-General (IG) Alkali Usman and they comprised of two inspectors, five sergeants and two constables.   They are: AP/No. 245800 – Inspector Nanoll Lamak; AP/NP 287568 – Inspector Amos Nagurah; F/No. 271367 – Sergeant Onoja Onuche; F/No. 442680 – Sergeant Franklin Agughalau; and F/No. 495378 – Sergeant Emmanuel Isah. Resident doctors reject court order to suspend strike, to appeal ruling
