A federal high court in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay the sum of N2 million as general damages to publisher and activist, Omoyele Sowore, over the unlawful seizure of his phone in 2019. The DSS arrested Sowore on August 2, 2019, and confiscated his phones. Despite being granted bail by two courts, the DSS failed to release the activist. An Abuja high court has granted the interim forfeiture of houses and lands linked to former Chairperson of the Board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mrs. Ngozi Juliet Olejeme. Olejeme was accused of using funds she received as kickbacks from contractors through third parties between 2009 and 2015, to buy properties including one she allegedly acquired for N1.3billion in Abuja in 2012.
