Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan to know fate on January 19

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has set January 19 as the date for hearing the appeal filed by the Athletics Integrity Unit and the World Anti-Doping Agency challenging the ruling of the Disciplinary Tribunal in World Athletics against World-record hurdler, Tobi Amusan.      The AIU had reported Amusan to CAS on September 15, 2023, after a ruling of its Disciplinary Tribunal found out that she had not violated antidoping rules that call for a suspension for missing tests.

Court to decide Baba Ijesha’s fate in defilement case on July 14

The Ikeja Special Offences Court has reserved judgment until July 14 in the case of Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, accused of defiling a 14-year-old girl.   On Monday, June 6, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the case for judgment after the prosecution and defence counsel had adopted their final written addresses.   Baba Ijesha is facing a six-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has expressed displeasure over the concert Naira Marley held on Saturday in Abuja, despite the ban on large gatherings amid the Coronavirus pandemic.   Hip-hop artiste, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, held a concert at the Jabi Lake Mall on Saturday in contravention of the PTF directive geared towards curbing the spread of the novel virus.
