No fewer than six Mine Resistant MILITARY Vehicles were intercepted by joint security operatives in Konkol, a borderline village in Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State, between Nigeria and Cameroon.
It is not clear whether the vehicles were exiting or coming into the country.
The identity of those manning the military hardware is yet to be ascertained.
However, a source within the Nigeria Customs who spoke to our correspondent but preferred not to be mentioned confirmed that Mine Resistant Armoured Vehicles were intercepted.
“Yes there was intercept of six MILITARY mine equipment by our area command office in Yola, but you know I cannot be quoted for want of authority.
“It was a joint operation, involving, our officers, the DSS, army and other operatives,” he said.
Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officers involved in the joint operations did not succeed as calls directed to their respective mobile phones were not answered.
We could not verify the destination of the equipment as of the time of this report neither have any arrests been made.
However, there are indications that the MILITARY high command in Abuja has directed an urgent investigation into the discovery, just as the equipment is currently at the Customs Area Command in Yola.
