A Lagos man has recounted how his dad was beaten mercilessly by police officers.
He said the three policemen who carried out the beating were from Area H police station in Ogudu, Lagos.
According to InstablogNaija, the man, simply identified as Dapo wrote: “On 9/5/2017, at about 3pm, I and my brother went to the Mainland to pick his car from the mechanic.. just as we left the mechanic heading back to the island, the car broke down and we were in the middle of the road.
I quickly called my dad who was just around the area for help, because we had no idea what to do , he came and we concluded to push the car out of the road .. just as we pushed it out of the road to a gas station, police came out of their van to question us, they were about 4 to 5 of them.
First one came and was like Hey who are you, what do you do for living let me see your “boot”.. we answered all his questions and opened the trunk for him to see, he then asked us to search ourselves including my dad.
He saw a phone and asked us to give it to him, my dad got upset and asked him why? What for? He yelled and said don’t ask me any questions just unlock that phone and give it to me.
We disagreed and one of them punch me and asked us to get into the van, it happened so fast we didn’t even understand what was going on, my dad asked him “Why” na so wahala start oh… they rough handled him, threatened to shoot us if we don’t move !
Police beat my father for my eyes people gathered but no single person came close .. in a nutshell, they beat my father.. I just want to send the message across to Nigerians. We need justice. This police embarrassment and brutality is getting worst daily.
We need justice… after dragging with them for hours people started screaming Ole!! Thief before they ran off … people that live around there said that’s how they behave there and gave us their names… one of them is Osas, another one is Oga Monday and Ijaya.. they are police from Area H in Ogudu and everything happened at Alapere to Total filling station.”
