Kevin Hart freaks out in new york marathon
From comic Kevin Hart to model Karlie Kloss and Real Housewives Of New York star Carole Radziwill, the celebrities turned out in
force for the New York City Marathon on Sunday.
But things almost went wrong for 38-year-old Hart before the race had even started – when he freaked out at the starter gun.
The comic posted a video to hisInstagram detailing his confusion. ‘Yo! We’re about to start, baby – ,’ he said,
only to be startled and cry: ‘Oh, s***!’ as the starter gunshots rang out.
Kevin confessed: ‘I tell you what, I almost turned around and went the f*** home.’
Of course celebs weren’t the only ones running the marathon – with thousands of runners turning out to
either run or support those on the course.
For the men Geoffrey Kamworor of Kenya came in first, followed by Wilson Kipsang and Lelisa Desisa.
As for the women, Shalene Flanagan, 36 – won with an unofficial time of two hours 26 minutes and 53 seconds,
becoming the first American woman to do so since 1977.
Coming second was three-time defending champion Mary Keitany of Kenya, with a time of 2:27:54, followed by first timer Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia, who had a time of 2:28:08.
Aside from the athletic elite, many of those running were doing so in a bid to raise money – including Hart.
He hoped to raise $300,000 for his Help From The Hart Charity and its Help From The Hart Scholarship Program.
He himself is chipping in $50,000.
He had a bit of encouragement before heading off to the race, including from his Jumanji:
Welcome To The Jungle co-star Dwayne Johnson.
The musclebound Dwayne addressed Kevin in a selfie video filmed in what looked like a gym.
‘Kevin, tomorrow is your big day – the New York City Marathon,’ he said. ‘You’ve been training your a** off for months to compete in this marathon. Cannot wait to see you kill it. Very proud of you.
‘And to the thousands and thousands of runners who are gonna compete tomorrow: When you’re digging deep, when you’re finding your metal, when you’re focused, you’re determined, you’re ready to finish the race.
‘And you’re running, and you hear somebody beside you running like a little snack-size Denzel, making’ – he emitted a whining series of nasal squeaks – ‘‘cause that’s the way Kevin runs, and that’s the noises he make – don’t be afraid to elbow that sumb**** right in the head.’
Earlier in the morning, Kevin posted a photo of his pregnant second wife Eniko as she sat in bed beside him, holding a sign that wished him well.
‘Good MORNING! 26.2 Babe! YOU GOT THIS! I [heart] you,’ read some pink text on the white piece of paper she held up.
