Some 108 candidates out of 51,018 pupils that sat for the Cowbellpedia Qualifying Examination have qualified for the second stage of the competition.
A statement from Promasidor Nigeria Limited, sponsor of the contest, on Thursday, said that the finalists, comprising 25 females and 83 males in both the junior and senior categories, would slug it out for the grand prizes.
It added that the second stage of the contest would be in a televised quiz format.
“This second stage, which is in a quiz format, will be further sub-divided into preliminary, semifinals and finals and will be in a series of 13 episodes. Michael Paul of Excelgrace Academy, Akaajime, Gboko, Benue State, led the pack in the senior category.
“In the junior category, four pupils recorded perfect scores. They are: Anita Alabi of Gloryland Secondary School, Igarra, Edo State; Fuad Alabi of Federal College of Science and Technology, Akoka, Lagos; Monyei Cynthia of Good Shepherd Secondary School, Meiran, Lagos; and Adeyanju Oluwafemi of Jesuit Memorial College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State,’’ it said.
According to the Marketing Manager, PNL, Mr. Abiodun Ayodeji, the top three pupils in each state for both junior and senior categories in the Qualifying Examination will be rewarded with cash prizes.
